Lost Parrot Café
Why “The Lost Parrot Cafe?” The story goes the parrots came from Simpson's Nursery in East Pasadena on Colorado Blvd in the Lamanda Park area. It caught on fire in 1969. Either the parrots were released to save them from the fires or they managed to escape on their own in time. From these parrots, the Pasadena Parrots came about. Other stories claim that the parrots have migrated up from Mexico but others still state they were originally black market birds released by smugglers. This rich local history is something we look to celebrate and cultivate.
Our goal here is to serve damn good espresso-based drinks and create a community within our doors. We promote boardgames and cuddling up with a good book. We also sell cute little planters and offer a small selection of books.
This area of Southern California has a unique balance of a home-town-feel yet is within arms reach of the diverse culture and style of DTLA: we are also blessed with the Pacific Ocean and San Gabriel Mountain range approximately an hour in either direction: the idea is to embody these characteristics within our walls.
